Joseph Faitani

Westerly — Joseph J. Faitani, 91, of Westerly, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.

Born in Westerly, he was one of seven children born to the late John and Angeline Faitani.

Joseph served in the U.S. Army Air Force and then went on to earn a master’s degree. He was employed as an engineer for Pratt & Whitney for 30 years until his retirement in 1984.

He was a life member of the Elks, a member of the Westerly Yacht Club and Westerly Senior Citizens Association.

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Lawrence and John Faitani and Enrico Rescigno; and three sisters, Julia Longo, Clara Blennau and Elvira Belbruno.

Joseph is survived by two nephews, Gary Rescigno of Port Charlotte, Fla., and John Belbruno of Naples, Fla.; six nieces, Lynda Schuster of Mystic, Gail Smith of Pawcatuck, Debra Peterson of Irrmo, S.C., Marina Cawley of Tampa, Fla., Theresse Graham of Waterford, and Gail Faitani of Bristol; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service and burial will be private.
