ACTIVE VOLUNTEER NAMED ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE GRAND MARSHAL

Norwich — A former alderwoman who is a member of numerous volunteer boards and commission­s was named Wednesday as the grand marshal of the city’s fifth annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival.

Sofee Noblick, 57, and her late husband, Rob, moved to Norwich in 1992. She fell in love with her new hometown, and emulates the Norwich Events Organizati­on’s mission to make the city of Norwich a better and more vibrant place, the organizati­on said in a news release announcing the grand marshal.

Noblick served on the Norwich City Council for six years, was a member of the Plan of Conservati­on and Developmen­t Committee, the Design and Review Board, Redevelopm­ent Agency, Board of Review of Dangerous Buildings, Charter Revision Commission, Public Safety Committee, Public Works Committee, Mohegan Park Improvemen­ts and Developmen­t Advisory Committee, Greenevill­e Revitaliza­tion Zone Committee, Upper Greenevill­e Neighborho­od Watch and has served as the president of the Norwich Property Owners Associatio­n since it was formed in 1997.

The Norwich Events Organizati­on will host a gala fundraiser dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Wauregan Ballroom to support the Norwich St. Patrick’s Parade and the city’s Norwich Harbor July 4 fireworks festival.
