Groton — Marion C. (Tolides) Armaos, 89, formerly of New Britain and Collinsville, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Fairview in Groton.

She was born on May 30, 1928, in Willimantic, the daughter of the late Christie and Rita (Contos) Tolides. Marion grew up in Collinsville, graduating from Canton High School in 1946. She assisted at her mother and father’s business, Christie’s Luncheonette, in downtown Collinsville, which she enjoyed very much. After graduation, she went on to a career as an executive secretary at the Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford. After several years she left Aetna to marry and relocate to New Britain where she dedicated her life, love, heart and soul into raising a family. Marion’s warmth, kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her. In her later years, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and later, her great-grandchildren.

Marion is survived by her brother, Kenneth Tolides of Collinsville; daughter, Cathy Morin of Groton; two sons, Michael and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Ledyard and Christie and his wife, Tracey, of Ledyard; eight grandchildren, Deanna Doughton, Caitlin and Samantha Morin, Erica, Alexandra and Calista Armaos, Christopher and Ari Armaos; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caidyn Doughton. She is also survived by her aunt, Lily Contos; and numerous cousins, including Paula, Vikki, Ginny, Peggy Ann, Dorene and several others whom she dearly loved.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview for their compassion and care for mom.
