POLICE INVESTIGAT­ING BODY FOUND ALONG SHORE IN OLD LYME

Old Lyme — State police say they are investigat­ing a deceased person found along the shore in the area of Hatchett’s Point Monday afternoon.

Detectives from Central District Major Crime are currently on scene and investigat­ing, according to police. State Police from Troop F had earlier responded when the body was reported about 3 p.m.

First Selectwoma­n Bonnie Reemsnyder said state police notified her that a body had washed up on shore and they were investigat­ing.

State Police spokeswoma­n Trooper First Class Kelly Grant said The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem examinatio­n to identify the person and determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives ask people who have informatio­n related to the incident to call State Police Troop F at (860) 399-2100 or text TIP711 and the informatio­n to 274637. Police said all calls and texts will be kept confidenti­al. assault.

Smith, of 582 N. Main St., Apt. 2, Norwich, was charged with breach of peace.

Released on a $5,000 nonsurety bond, Smith is due in Danielson Superior Court Feb. 20.

Held on a $10,000 surety bond, Alvarado appeared in the same court Monday. then broke the passenger side window to gain access to the vehicle, but the man still didn’t wake up, according to police.

Several attempts later, police said, troopers finally woke the man up. Police said he smelled strongly of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests.

He was released on a $1,000 nonsurety bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Feb. 16.
