SUBMARINE LEARNING CENTER HONORED FOR TRAINING EXCELLENCE

Groton — The Submarine Learning Center was honored on Feb. 6 with six 2017 Training Excellence Awards from the Naval Education and Training Command.

The annual awards spotlight the continuity of quality and intensity of work demonstrat­ing NETC’s vision, mission, and strategic goals across the entire range of training and support operations.

In a message announcing the awards and praising all the recipients, NETC Commander Rear Adm. Kyle J. Cozad noted commands selected “Epitomize the highest degree of training excellence found throughout the Naval Education and Training Command. Their continued success in the delivery of training will ensure highly trained, top quality sailors to meet the needs of our fleet.”

The SLC received TEAs for exemplary performanc­e in planning and programmin­g, total force management, logistics management, curriculum management, training production management, and training support management.

Capt. Andrew C. Jarrett, commanding officer of the Submarine Learning Center, lauded the efforts of the Groton headquarte­rs staff and praised the work of the entire SLC team at training sites scattered across 13 time zones in support of world-class submarine force training.

“There are an almost countless number of moving parts to include programs and people all of which must be constantly synchroniz­ed and adjusted to best assure seamless delivery of world-class training to our submarine sailors,” he said. “These awards are a reflection of the hard work accomplish­ed every day over the course of the last year.”

The SLC plans, programs, budgets, and executes individual and team training for Undersea Warfare Enterprise mission readiness. Additional­ly, it develops, assigns, and coordinate­s future undersea warfare training and education solutions and allocates resources to execute undersea warfare training in fleet concentrat­ion areas and elsewhere, including the Naval Submarine School.
