Montgomery, Ala. — Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, angels descended from Heaven and took Jennie T. Shaeffer to spend eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Shaeffer was 97 years old and a resident of Montgomery, Ala. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles H. Shaeffer; her son, Charles S. Shaeffer; her parents, Stephen and Helen Potkay Kalinowski; one brother, Anthony Kalinowski; and three sisters, Mary Sullivan, Helen Gressler and Stella Donahue. She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Shaeffer Gregg (Harvey) of Montgomery, Ala.; a step-granddaugh­ter, Wendy Gregg Cook (Chris) of Dudley, Ga.; a step-great grandson, Peyton Cook and a step-great granddaugh­ter, Paige Cook, both of Dudley, Ga.; a loving niece, Patty Polen (Ralph) of Waterford; several nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Shaeffer was born in New London. She was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Quaker Hill, and a current member of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, Montgomery, Ala., where she was a member of the St. Ann’s Ladies Society and the Jarrow Club. She was a Senior Volunteer at Baptist East Hospital.

A Memorial and Celebratio­n Service will be held at noon on Feb. 17, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3870 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Ala. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New London. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to St. Bede Catholic Church, Montgomery, Ala.
