East Lyme — Eileen Connors Turano passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 20, 2018, while on a cruise in the Caribbean with George E. Turano, her loving husband of 57 years.

Born on Oct. 7, 1935, in Fall River, Mass., to Frederick L. Connors and Margaret Alston Connors, Eileen attended Durfee High School in Fall River. She maintained lifelong friendships with several of her high school classmates, with whom she continued to meet annually until her untimely death.

As a young woman, she lived in Boston, and worked at Liberty Mutual and Baird Atomic. She met George in 1959. They married on Nov. 19, 1960, and lived with their three children in East Lyme. Eileen enjoyed many summers with her children at McCook’s Beach in East Lyme, and spent winters skiing with them at Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vt. Eileen eventually returned to work as an administrative assistant for the East Lyme Board of Education and the East Lyme Town Assessors. Together, George and Eileen raised their family to love the great outdoors, and to travel all over the world.

After retirement, George and Eileen moved full time to Cape Cod, and spent winters in Venice, Fla. Extremely active in both communities, Eileen was never as busy as she was in retirement. She and George continued to travel and explored extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Central America and Europe. Her greatest love, however, was her family, and she would show that boundless love by preparing enormous feasts at every gathering. Our family will never be the same without her.

Eileen was the devoted wife of George, and the beloved mother of G. Mark Turano who, with his wife Linda Turano, lives in Hopkinton, Mass.; Gregg S. Turano of Westbury, N.Y.; and Sarah Turano-Flores who, with her husband Michael Flores, lives in Orleans, Mass.

In addition to her husband, Eileen is survived by her brother Frederick Connors, and sister-in-law Carol Connors, both of Swansea, Mass.; by several nieces and nephews; and by her six grandchildren, Ryan Turano, Elizabeth Turano, Leah Turano, Lily Flores, Adalia Flores and Aurelio Flores.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, Mass. Interment will immediately follow at Orleans Cemetery on Tonset Road, Orleans, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.

Notes of comfort may be made to her family at www. MorrisOConnorBlute.com.
