Things are about to get ‘Weird’

The most surprising thing isn’t that “Weird Al” Yankovic is getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year.

And it isn’t that Lin-Manuel Miranda is likewise getting HIS own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year.

No, the most surprising thing is that the two men were hanging out together when they each learned about the honor. The proof was right there on Twitter, with a photo of them both affecting astonished expressions at learning the news.

Whodathunk back when, in 1988, “Weird Al” Yankovic was frolicking around in a fat suit, singing “Fat,” his parody of Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” that he’d be getting his own Hollywood star 30 years later?

But Yankovic has always had a steady career. And he enjoyed quite a resurgence recently. His 2014 release “Mandatory Fun” became his first #1 album, but that’s not all: it was also the first comedy album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The tour that followed landed Yankovic at such iconic venues as Radio City Music Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

Yankovic, now 58, is back on tour, and, with his usual self-deprecating humor, he has dubbed this The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. He’s bringing the show Friday to Foxwoods.
