STATE POLICE: LISBON MAN HAD WEAPONS, TRIED TO MAKE BOMBS
Lisbon — Already incarcerated on domestic violence charges, a 37-year-old man was re-arrested Thursday on multiple gun charges and for attempting to manufacture bombs, according to state police.
Eric Gervais of 70 Kinsman Hill Road was charged with possession of an assault weapon, possession of large-capacity magazines, possession of a sawed-off shotgun and criminal attempt to manufacture bombs.
A woman called 911 on Jan. 31 to report that she had been assaulted by her significant other, according to the report from Connecticut State Police. She said Gervais made threatening remarks about shooting people and committing suicide by cop.
Gervais was arrested that day on charges of risk of injury to a child, third-degree assault, threatening and unlawful restraint.
During their investigation inside the home, police saw in plain view an unregistered assault weapon, a sawed-off shotgun, handguns, ammunition, high-capacity magazines, potential bomb-making materials, anti-government literature and military manuals on improvising explosive devices, the police report stated.
The Lisbon resident trooper was granted a search and seizure warrant, seized the items and was granted an arrest warrant for Gervais, who appeared in court on Thursday and was held on a $200,000 bond.
