Mystic — Shirley Elaine (McMullen) Santos, 65, of Mystic, died at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

She was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Daniel McMullin and Jean Flemming. She attended Brighton High School in 1967 but got her high school diploma later in Alameda, Calif. On Dec. 27, 1969, she was married to Lamberto “Bert” Santos of Cavite City, Philippine­s, in a civil ceremony in Boston, Mass.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Bert; and children, Jeffrey, Daniel and Jessica of Mystic, and Jennifer of Kittery Point, Maine; grandchild­ren, Hunter and Leila of Mystic and Michael of Kittery Point; sonin-law, Steve Hendrickso­n of Kittery Point; and daughter-inlaw, Amanda of Mystic. Other surviving family members are brother, Charles with sister-inlaw, Debbie McMullen; sister, Brenda Augustinos; and sister, Cathy with brother-in-law, Jim Shea, all of Boston; and sisters-in-law, Loie and Marge McMullin, both of Canada.

She was predecease­d by both parents; and brothers, Doug, Greg and Don of Canada; and a sister, Patricia of Boston. She was also predecease­d by her beloved granddaugh­ter, Alexxis.

Shirley was an avid Boston sports fan, a lifetime Red Sox and Celtics fan, she also enjoyed watching the Patriots. Shirley enjoyed family card games and going to bingo, mostly with sister Brenda.

Shirley will be celebrated and remembered in a funeral Mass at noon Saturday, March 24, 2018, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church. The church is located on 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, and is directly across from the Town of Groton Police Station.

Donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Catholic Charities supported by St. Marys Church.

The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is assisting the family.
