ONE PERSON INJURED IN NEW LONDON SHOOTING

New London — Police are investigat­ing a Monday morning shooting at a gas station on Broad Street that left one person with serious injuries.

At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a person shot inside the Gulf gas station, formerly known as the Ravi Petro Mart, at 290 Broad St. According to police, the male victim was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and later flown by Life Star helicopter to Yale New Haven Hospital.

A police dog was unable to find the suspect. Detectives collected evidence from the scene, and the store was open for business Monday morning.

A few hours earlier, at around 10 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Colver Street and Lincoln Avenue. Police said they believe the two incidents are connected.

Chief Peter Reichard said the department is unable to release informatio­n regarding the victim of the Monday shooting, but he said they have a person of interest in custody.
