Margaret Perry

East Lyme — Margaret E. Perry, 92, of Niantic, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Beechwood Manor in New London.

She was born in New London, the daughter of John and Marion Scanlon. Margaret was married to Robert D. Perry Sr., on Nov. 23, 1947, in Groton; Robert passed away on Feb. 9, 2013.

Peggy’s charismatic smile and endless love will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Patrick and his wife, Susan, of Niantic and Robert D. Perry Jr. and his wife, Dorcas, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; her brother, John Scanlon of El Paso, Texas; and her four grandchildren, Erin, Jeffrey, Joshua and Jennifer.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Willard, Patrick and Alfred; and her sister, Beverly.

Margaret lived a happy life and survived many things always with a smile on her face, including being struck by lightning while talking on the telephone in her 30s.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Beechwood who made her time there wonderful. Our mom adored all of you.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Interment will be in Smith Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday.
