Business: On the DiFiore’s Auto Detailing website, Joe DiFiore advertises routine services, like paint restoration, scratch removal and steam cleaning of the interior. But his T-shirt tells more of a story: “No buff too tuff.” The Norwich business is celebrating 30 years.

Daybreak: Merritt Guitars, the up-and-running electric guitar company headquartered in a small house in Mystic, is a one-man factory headed by veteran local guitarist Brian Merritt, and the business is the perfect realization of a “labor of love” concept.
