Police investigat­ing untimely death at Ramada Inn in Groton

Groton — Police are investigat­ing the untimely death of a woman who was found early Friday morning at the Ramada Inn at 156 Kings Highway.

About 7:24 a.m. officers from the Groton Town Police Department, along with members of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance and medics from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, responded to the hotel for a report of a person not breathing. Officers and EMS personnel located an unresponsi­ve adult female who was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notificati­on of the next of kin.

The case is being treated as an untimely death and is being investigat­ed by members of the police department’s Criminal Investigat­ive Division, with the assistance of the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State’s Attorney’s Office.
