BLACK DOG GENERAL STORE TO HOLD DOG ADOPTION DAY

-

Mystic — The Black Dog General Store located at 25 W. Main St. is holding a dog adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

While the store has held adoption days before, manager Donald Ladd said this is the first adoption day in which the store is partnering with Friday’s Rescue Foundation.

Friday’s said this week it will be sending more than three dogs to the event: a chocolate lab named Duke of Earl, a mixed breed named Callie, and either a shepherd named Daisy or a terrier-Shih Tzu mix named Scooter.

In addition, 20 percent of the store’s sales today will go to Friday’s.

The Black Dog — which has 30 stores, mostly in New England — sells apparel, totes, dog items and more, with their signature logo of a black dog.

Since 2013, more than 100 dogs have been adopted through adoption events in September and March at various Black Dog locations.
