Yeah, yeah, yeah, kids might find themselves gifted with treats on Sunday when the Easter Bunny is expected to drop off baskets o’ goodies at various abodes. But why wait? On Saturday, young’uns can enjoy an early rush of excitement when several venues hold Easter egg hunts.

Olde Mistick Village hosts its Easter egg hunt, with sessions divided up by age. The schedule is: 3-year-olds at noon, 4-year-olds at 12:15 p.m., 5-7-year-olds at 12:30, and 8-10-year-olds at 12:45. All of those will be held in the Apple Orchard at Olde Mistick Village.

And youngsters who are 2 years old and under aren’t left out. From noon to 1 p.m., they can meet Mr. Bunny on the Village Green and get an egg.

Groton Church of Christ is hosting a community Eggstravaganza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. That will include games, free photos with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt (naturally) and lunch.

There’ll be an Easter Egg Hunt at the City of Groton Municipal Building for ages 2 to 12, and there’ll be a Community Easter Egg Hunt at Union Baptist Church in Mystic, along with egg coloring.

And the Westbrook Outlets offer up the 21st annual Spring Egg Hunt. As with the event at Olde Mistick Village, this one will be arranged by age (3 and under; 4-7; 8-12). Things will kick off at noon at the picnic area near Marquee Cinemas, where thousands of eggs will await the young searchers. Granted, eggs filled with candy seem like motivation enough, but youngsters might also want to try

to find the gold eggs filled with prizes. Folks should bring their own basket or bag to hold the eggs.

Post-egg hunt, there will be family activities at some of the outlet stores.

And for children who don’t want to wait until Saturday, the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is doing its Woodland Egg Hunt.
