Waterford — Elvira A. “Vera” “Julie” DelPriore, 94, of Waterford, entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in New London, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elena (Muzzi) Giulietti, and granddaughter of the late John and Elda Muzzi, all residents of the formerly known as “The Fort” area of New London. Vera was a friend to all and enjoyed volunteering for years, beginning at the former B.P.W. Club of New London, and YWCA where she served as past secretary and president. She was a member of the Goshen Firehouse Auxiliary and helped in the “Libby’s Army” for the Waterford Country School, and the cancer fairs at Ocean Beach. She was secretary of the St. Joseph Women’s Social Club, a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, where she was an office secretary for 16 years. In addition, she served as a secretary for six and half years at the Second Congregational Church. She started her secretarial career in Portsmouth, N.H., after graduating with honors at Portsmouth High School in 1942, and returned for their 70th reunion.

On Jan. 3, 1943, Vera started as a clerk in a one-women office for Prudential Insurance Co. with a manager and a staff of eight agents. Her family returned to Connecticut in 1947 and after remaining in Portsmouth a few months on her own and missing her family, transferred to the Prudential office in Norwich. At that time there were no openings in the New London office, so took two buses to get to work in Norwich, until her father taught her to drive, and purchased her first car, a “green Chevy” on her own. She left Prudential after 19 years of service to marry her beloved husband Bill, who she met through a lifelong friend, Josephine Lanzalotta Allen, at the Goshen Fire House. They where united in marriage on Oct. 21, 1961, in St. Joseph Church, in New London. She lost Bill on Feb. 20, 2009, after 47 devoted years. She was predeceased by a brother and wife, Alfred and Jane (Pezzello) Giulietti.

Surviving her is a brother and wife, William and Inez (Facchini) Giulietti. In addition are several nieces and nephews, Steven (Patty) Giulietti and daughter and son, Alysha and Stefanie, Justin and Dineen Saunders; Carol (Tom) Carrling; Susan (Walter) Greenman and daughters Katlyn and Jaclyn; Inez Marie (Pete) Giulietti and daughter Ashley (Stephen) McSperrin; Marion (Russ) Carroll and daughters April Vittone, Bella, Melissa (Nick) Dresko and sons Anthony, Matthew and Nathan. Also surviving her are caregivers, Alice Armstrong; and beloved neighbors, Sandra and Stephen Holt and children, Katherine (Jeff), Emily (Riley), Dan (Christina), John (Karley) and Victoria, to whom she was “Aunt Bibi” and they were her extended family.

Vera thoroughly enjoyed her days at the Waterford Senior Center, volunteering and playing cards, and the Goshen Ladies Auxiliary. We remember her saying daily “Thank you Lord for my blessing giving me my whole life through.”

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon from St. Joseph Church, interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
