Stonington — Shirley Rae (Marsh) Sharp, 90, of Stonington, formerly of Groton, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at her residence.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1928, in Binghamton, N.Y., the daughter of Raymond J. and Stella (Meagley) Marsh.

While employed by the American Legion in Hartford, she married Robert Morris Sharp on Sept. 16, 1950, and moved to southeaste­rn Connecticu­t. They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until Jan. 6, 2008, when Bob sadly predecease­d her.

Shirley was a former member of the Thames River Quilting Guild, Child and Family Services Agency, past president of the Rake and Trowel Garden Club, a 50-year member of a local bridge club, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Nehantic Chapter in Niantic. She volunteere­d many countless hours at the Pequotsepo­s Nature Center and the Groton Sunshine Kitchen. She read to the kindergart­en classes of the Pfizer Day Care Center in Groton and managed the nursery at Groton Congregati­onal Church.

Shirley enjoyed traveling, sailing, music and the fine arts, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Larry Marcom of Santa Rosa, Calif., and their children, Jason W. Marcom, and Allison Rae and Keith Baker and their children, Watson and Finnegan; Cynthia S. Puhlick of Lisbon, and her sons, Joshua and Corrie Puhlick and their children, Nathaniel, Chase and Lila, Justin and Kristy Puhlick and their children, Natalie and Dominic, Peter and Stacie Reinhard, and David Reinhard and his fiancee, Jill Finley, and Mason; Pamela Rae and Steven Spellman of Noank, and their children, Kelly Rae Spellman and her fiance, Patrick Crowley, and Robert K. Spellman; as well as grandchild­ren, Jacqueline D. Sharp and her fiance, Philip Trapasso, Samantha Rae Sharp, Jacob Sharp and Jonathan Sharp. Also surviving are many favorite nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predecease­d by her only sister, Margaret Svoboda; her son, James D. Sharp; and her son-in-law, Paul D. Puhlick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Her burial will follow in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.

In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be directed to either Center for Hospice Care Southeaste­rn Connecticu­t, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360 or to the Salvation Army, 11 Governor Winthrop Blvd., New London, CT 06320.
