Beryl Kent

Groton — Beryl S. Kent, 75, of Groton, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her family, on Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.

Beryl was born in Reading, England, on May 12, 1942, the daughter of Robert H. and Louisa (Barker) Biggs. She was married to Perley L. Kent Jr., on May 9, 1964, in Reading, England. Perley passed away Jan. 31, 2017.

She retired from the Navy supply department at the Submarine Base in Groton where she worked as a secretary. Beryl loved her grandchildren, gardening, the beach and lighthouses. She enjoyed her retirement years living in Florida and traveling with her husband, Perley.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Kent of Marlton, N.J. and David Kent of Groton; a daughter, Joanne Lucet of New London; and nine grandchildren, Brittany, Robert, Shelby, Ethan, Caroline, Andrew, Hannah, Jason and Thomas.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Kent; her brother, Raymond; and her sister, June.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
