Judy grew up with her family in Watertown, N.Y., and was one of three children. She graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts in 1954 following her graduation from the Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y. After college, Judy entered a career in administration and was first the executive assistant to the chairman of internal medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass., and later to the chairman of internal medicine at Cornell Medical Center in New York where she spent seven years before marrying William “Bill” W. Miner of New London, on June 4, 1966.

Judy and Bill spent more than 30 years living and raising their children on the water in New London before moving to Mystic in the 90s. Judy was an active volunteer at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, St. James Episcopal Church, Lyman Allyn Museum, the New London Garden Club and several other charitable organizations. An avid sailor, she and her family would spend many weekends cruising on Fishers Island Sound on the wooden boat the family built in their garage. Judy loved to travel and spend most of her life on various adventures with her family and friends and was abroad as recently as a little over a year ago. She also enjoyed skiing, the theater, tennis and reading. Judy’s greatest love was her family and she is survived by her two children, Augusta Whaley Miner-Martin and William Jordan Miner; her daughter-in-law, Caitlin Sweet Miner; and four loving grandchildren, Jack and Bradley Martin and Will and James Miner. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Jordan Phillips; and her brother, Paul Hollister Jordan; brother-inlaw Alfred Phillips; and sisterin-law Jean Whaley Miner.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Calvary Church, Church Street, Stonington.
