Mystic — Donna M. (Smith) Sullivan, 74, of Mystic, wife of 53 years to Edward A. Sullivan, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Framingham, Mass., she was the daughter to the late William and Beatrice (Boudreau) Smith and lived in Mystic since 2000.

She attended parochial schools in Framingham, Mass., and was a graduate of Marion High School. Following high school, she attended Boston College, earning her bachelor’s degree in education.

Donna was a schoolteac­her, teaching throughout several area states. She retired in 1998, from Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton, where she taught for 20 years. Because of her passion for education throughout her career, Donna was cited numerous times in “Who’s Who in American Education” in the early 1990s.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her three sons, Terrance Sullivan (U.S. Army) and his wife, Laura, of Wrentham, Mass., Timothy Sullivan (USMC) and his wife, Claudine, of Glastonbur­y, and Mark Sullivan (U.S. Government Agent) and his wife, Donna, of St. Louis, Mo.; her brother, James Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Onset, Mass.; nine grandchild­ren and two nieces and two nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Mystic Funeral Home on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 32 E. Main St., Mystic, where Donna was a parishione­r. Her burial will be private following the Mass.
