COMING SUNDAY

WEATHER Today, mostly sunny and breezy. High 55. Sunday, mostly sunny and pleasant. High 56.

News: The last teen to be released from the Connecticut Juvenile Training School before the locked facility for delinquent boys closed last week was a 16-year-old from Groton whose mother said he suffers from mental illness and thrives on the excitement of getting into trouble. He promptly ran away from an unlocked facility in East Windsor, confirming the warnings of some that closing the training school before replacing it with an appropriate facility for the small percentage of kids that need to be locked up was a mistake.

Business: Marcia Jamerson has included her interest in designing and art in her shop, Nest in Mystic. Always crafty and with an eye toward trends, she had been making items like French ribbon rose pins, berets and scarfs and selling them to shops along the southeastern Connecticut shoreline when she one day realized that she’d like to be a shopkeeper, too.

Daybreak: Emmett Breen, 15, of Stonington and Mackenzie Roy Peterson, 10, of Norwich are part of a burgeoning ninja warrior scene in Connecticut. As in the TV show, competitors face off against one another as they race against the clock in obstacle courses that resemble steroidal playgrounds.

Perspective: When the grand old Palmer Auditorium at Connecticut College raises the curtain in a couple of years on its $20 million redo, students and faculty won’t be the only ones applauding.
