East Lyme — Richard “Dick” F. Meek Jr., 57, died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Meek was born on Dec. 31, 1960, in New London, the son of Richard and Ann Marie (Messina) Meek. After high school he worked with his dad on the family charter boat “The Sea Nymph” and other head boats and charter boats in the area. He also had his 100-ton captain’s license. During his life he lived in New York where his daughter Erin was born. He also lived on Block Island and New Hampshire where he owned a pizza restaurant, “Jenrons” and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobili­ng and ice fishing.

When he relocated to Connecticu­t he continued his love of fishing and worked as a chef at Mohegan Sun for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his New England teams: the Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and NASCAR racing. It was his pleasure to take his niece and nephews fishing and late night treat runs for ice cream. He enjoyed watching them participat­e in their various sporting activities. One of his other true passions was cooking. He loved to cook and prepare holiday feasts for his family.

Mr. Meek is survived by his mother, Ann Marie Meek; his brothers, Jeffrey (Cindi) and Brian Meek; and sister, Pamela Meek Gracey (Dean); grandson, Elijah Teitelbaum; and nephews Tyler Gracey and Ashton Meek; and niece Ashleigh Meek.

He is predecease­d by his father, Richard; and his daughter, Erin Teitelbaum.

Friends and family are invited to join together for a celebratio­n of his life from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Niantic Sportsman Club, 67 Plants Dam Road, East Lyme.

Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, Niantic, is handling the arrangemen­ts.
