Hyde Park, N.Y. — Anthony Silvestri, 53, a 14-year resident of Hyde Park, lost his courageous battle with cancer peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, with his family by his side.

Born in Southbridg­e, Mass., on Aug. 26, 1964, he was the son of Anthony C. and Betty (Asselin) Silvestri. His parents survive in Old Saybrook. He was a 1982 graduate of Old Saybrook High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 to 1988.

Tony had a longtime career in the food industry. He could often be found at softball fields watching his daughter, Taylor. He was the epitome of a “softball dad” and truly Taylor’s biggest fan.

In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his wife, Robin; four children he adored, Taylor Silvestri of Hyde Park, Anthony J. Silvestri and wife, Tarah, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Gianna and Joseph Silvestri, both of Cranston, R.I.; four grandchild­ren, Mia, Sophie, Bella and Peter; sister, Lori Montano and husband, Thomas, of Old Lyme; brother, Todd Silvestri of Old Saybrook; and nephews, Tommy and Jake Montano of Old Lyme.

He was predecease­d by his brother, Steve Silvestri.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 29, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park, N.Y. A prayer service will be offered at 4 p.m. As this is a celebratio­n of Tony’s life, please wear something colorful. An education fund in Anthony’s memory is being establishe­d for his children. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at the convenienc­e of the family.
