Anthony Silvestri

Hyde Park, N.Y. — Anthony Silvestri, 53, a 14-year resident of Hyde Park, lost his courageous battle with cancer peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, with his family by his side.

Born in Southbridge, Mass., on Aug. 26, 1964, he was the son of Anthony C. and Betty (Asselin) Silvestri. His parents survive in Old Saybrook. He was a 1982 graduate of Old Saybrook High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 to 1988.

Tony had a longtime career in the food industry. He could often be found at softball fields watching his daughter, Taylor. He was the epitome of a “softball dad” and truly Taylor’s biggest fan.

In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his wife, Robin; four children he adored, Taylor Silvestri of Hyde Park, Anthony J. Silvestri and wife, Tarah, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Gianna and Joseph Silvestri, both of Cranston, R.I.; four grandchildren, Mia, Sophie, Bella and Peter; sister, Lori Montano and husband, Thomas, of Old Lyme; brother, Todd Silvestri of Old Saybrook; and nephews, Tommy and Jake Montano of Old Lyme.

He was predeceased by his brother, Steve Silvestri.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 29, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park, N.Y. A prayer service will be offered at 4 p.m. As this is a celebration of Tony’s life, please wear something colorful. An education fund in Anthony’s memory is being established for his children. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
