Waterford — Louise C. Cavanaugh, 92, of Waterford, passed away on Thursday night, April 26, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in New London, the daughter of Henry J. and Ellen Stall Pope. Louise lived in New London and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School in the Class of 1944. She was married to Robert E. Moran from 1949 until he died in 1964. She then married Edward C. Cavanaugh in 1973 and they enjoyed many ports of call throughout the U.S. islands and Europe. Edward passed away in 2013.

Louise worked as the banquet manager at the Crocker House from 1949 to 1953 and from 1964 until her retirement in 1988. She was the manager of the Oswegatchi­e School cafeteria for the Waterford Board of Education. She was a member of the Waterford Post VFW Auxiliary and their drill team. She also was a member of the St. Joseph Church Women’s Club and had worked as the assistant registrar of voters for Waterford for 42 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lee of Waterford; and one sister, Uenda Hickey of Storrs.

She was predecease­d by her five brothers, Henry, Richard, Hinton, Howard and George Pope; and her sister, Natalie Grant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at St. Joseph Church, corner of Montauk Avenue and Squire Street, New London. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
