Stonington boys remain undefeated

Michelson rallies for three-set win to lift Bears past New London

New London — Stonington's William Michelson rallied for a three-set win over New London's Zach Skrabacz at No. 1 singles as the Bears remained unbeaten with a 6-1 boys' tennis win over the Whalers on Tuesday.

After dropping the first set 6-3, Michelson won the final two sets 6-1, 6-3 for Stonington (6-0), which also picked up singles wins from Sean Bessette, Kyle Remmert and Filip Aubrecht, and victories from the doubles teams of Jake Stiger-Quinn Hamilton and Sam Snediker-Matt Santacroce.

New London (4-5) picked up a win from its No. 3 doubles team of Taren Thomson-Sebastien Michel.

Girls

• Montville swept the doubles matches to beat Bacon Academy 5-2. The teams of Luisa-Alavcon-Lori Li, Joanna Liang-Jie Yi Huang and Anne Zhang-Michelle Zhang were all straight-set winners for Montville (52), as were singles players Man Wai Chan and Ashley Boyer. Caroline Banning and Morgan Darling won singles matches for Bacon.

• Gabby Dellacono, Charlotte Johnstone, Hannah Middleton and Holly Foster led a Stonington sweep with singles wins in a 7-0 shutout of New London. The Bears improved to 6-0. New London is 2-5.

• Cromwell rallied to win two singles matches and a doubles match in three sets to outlast Old Lyme 4-3 in the Shoreline Conference. Keelin Hurtt won at No. 1 singles for Old Lyme, as did the doubles teams of Shannon Nosal-Kellie Sablone and Emma Danes-Lauren Wallace.
