Stonington softball team snaps Montville's eight-game streak

Montville — Stonington High School rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated Montville 9-7 Thursday in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division II softball game.

Maggie Constantin­e went 2-for-4 with the decisive triple in the seventh that produced the tying and goahead runs. Abby Flakus had three hits for the Bears (10-3, 5-2), while Trinity Lennon and Miranda Arruda homered.

Abby Diamantini hit a two-run homer for the Indians (10-3, 4-2), who had their eight-game winning streak snapped, while Alexis Michon had two hits. In other games: • Olivia Quagan allowed three hits and struck out 10 batters and had three hits and two RBI, leading East Lyme to a 6-1 victory over Ledyard in ECC Divisioni I. Isabel Siciliano and Mya Delesderni­er added doubles for the Vikings (7-5, 5-1), while Madison Sanbourn had two hits for the Colonels (7-6, 1-4).

• Karly Morales went 3-for 4 with a single, double, triple and four RBI as Fitch defeated New London 16-4 in ECC Division I. Allison Georgetti had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored and Olivia Carney had three hits and three runs scored for the Falcons (6-7, 3-3). Jaelyn Potter had two hits for New London (1-11, 0-5).

• Kendra Perez had three hits for Wheeler in its 16-5 loss to Tourtellot­te in ECC Division III. Perez also scored a run for the Lions (2-8, 0-6).

• Kalli Campbell had five hits, including a home run, leading Norwich Tech to a 21-2 win over Prince Tech in the Connecticu­t Technical Conference. Campbell also had eight RBI for the Warriors (9-2).

• Goodwin Tech had 31 hits in a 25-7, five-inning win over Grasso Tech in a CTC game. Keylin Robles had two doubles and a single and Elisa LeBron and Erin Blake had a single and double each for Grasso.

• St. Bernard lost to Lyman Memorial 11-1 in an ECC Division III game. Emily Nelson and Briana Beverly each had a single and a double for the Saints (5-6, 3-4).

H.S. baseball

• Tourtellot­te beat Wheeler 14-11 in an ECC Division III game. Anthony Cibarich went 2-for-3, including a two-run double, with two runs for Wheeler (2-10, 0-7) and Aiden Cameron had an RBI single and two runs. Also, Seth Jones scored three runs.

H.S. boys' golf

• East Lyme's Evan Kluge was the medalist with a 39 as the Vikings beat NFA 7-0 in an ECC Division I match. Ben Bohmbach (41), Matt Orefice (45), Quenten Dean (45) and Logan Rolfe (46) all won their matches for East Lyme (7-1, 2-0).

• Stonington picked up a pair of wins, beating Plainfield 7-0 and Montville 6-1 in an ECC Division II match. Jack Glenn, Grant Hamilton, Jacob Geary, Caleb Silvia and Aiden Adams all won their matches for Stonington (6-1, 5-1) against Plainfield. Sam Gaboury of Montville (1-6, 0-4) was the medalist with a 41, as Hamilton and Geary each had 42s.

• Ryan Smelser of Grasso Tech was the medalist as the Eagles beat Ellis Tech 206-210. Smelser shot a 47.

• Old Lyme's Connor Maguire was the medalist with a career-low 37 as the Wildcats beat Valley Regional 158-211 in a Shoreline Conference match. Pat Looney had a 38 for Old Lyme, Peter Macadam shot a 41 and Tom Creagan had a 42.

• Waterford lost to Woodstock in an ECC Division II match, 6-1. Quentin Spohn won his match for Waterford (6-7, 2-4).

H.S. girls' golf

• Waterford's Caroline Petchark was the medalist with a 41 as the Lancers beat Woodstock 200-202. Sydney Hauser shot a 46 for Waterford, which lost to Suffield 199-203 on Wednesday. Petchark led the Lancers with a 45 and teammate Sydney Tabor shot a 48.

H.S. boys' track

• Brenden Sholes won three events as NFA beat Ledyard 10050 in the ECC Division I meet on Wednesday. Sholes won the 800 meters (2:05.9), long jump (21-0) and high jump (6-0) and teammate Chris Hebert won the discus (116-11) and javelin (148-6). Chris Weir and Adelino Daviega also won events for NFA (3-0, 3-0), which can wrap up the division title with a win over Fitch on May 14. James Smith won the 100 (11.0) and 200 (23.0) for Ledyard (3-2, 1-2) and teammates Jahmik Devone and Collin Wiltshire also won events. Rashawn Wright of New London (1-5, 0-4) won the 1,600. New London lost to NFA 12327 and Ledyard 102-47.
