Ledyard — Rene Audette, 90, of Ledyard, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Rene was born in Central Falls, R.I., the son of Philias and Alice (Marcoux) Audette.

Rene will always be remembered for his quiet and reserved demeanor, but also for his intelligen­ce and academic ability. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he earned his bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Notre Dame, Class of 1952. He went on to teach mathematic­s at Danielson Public Schools and later worked as a chemist for Pfizer, retiring in 1984. During his retirement, Rene became a fixture at Parke’s Place Restaurant. He made many wonderful friends and showed incredible generosity to those that were close to him. Rene was a kind and generous soul, and he will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known him.

In addition to his parents, Rene was predecease­d by his brother, Richard Audette.

He is survived by many dear friends, including Parke, Donna, Beverly, Michele, Parke II, Jim and Julie.

A special note of gratitude goes to his longtime caretakers, Dawn Doty, Beverly Choti and Zama Marques.

Services for Rene will be private.
