Groton — Republican delegates to the party’s convention unanimousl­y endorsed incumbent Sen. Heather Somers this week for the 18th District state Senate seat.

Somers was elected to the seat — which covers Groton, Stonington, North Stonington, Preston, Griswold, Voluntown, Sterling and Plainfield — in 2016.
