Guilford — Gloria (Telage) Souney, longtime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Beechwood Rehabilita­tion Center, New London, surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born Dec. 17, 1929, in Mystic, to the late Abraham Telage and Faheema (Crashaw) Telage. She graduated from Williams Memorial Institute Class of 1947 and Connecticu­t College for Women, Class of 1952. She earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Connecticu­t in 1985. As a social worker she had been employed by the State of Connecticu­t as a probation officer, the Diocesan Bureau Social Services and Middlesex Hospital as a medical social worker. She retired from the Guilford Public Schools.

Wife of the late John J. Souney. Gloria leaves two sons, Sean J. Souney and his wife, Claire Hoffman, of Pasadena, Calif. and Patrick E. Souney of Guilford. Gloria is the sister of Thomas Allen Telage of Waterford and Joyce (Telage) Beaudoin and her husband, Leon, of New London. She is also survived by two nephews, Andre’ Beaudoin and wife, Patricia, of New Milford and Scott Beaudoin and wife, Jennifer, of Killingwor­th; and three grandnephe­ws, Andre Jr., Cameron and Christophe­r.

Gloria was a “Grand Lady” in every sense of the word. She left an indelible mark on all those she touched. She cared deeply and devoted her life to helping others. Clearly, she will be sorely missed.

The family also wishes to thank each and every staff member of Beechwood Rehabilita­tion Center for the incredibly amazing care they provided Gloria and the support they provided the family during this time of great sadness.

Friends are invited to the funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. Burial will be held privately.
