Susan Powers
Gales Ferry — Susan Elizabeth Powers, age 64, of Gales Ferry, died on May 13, 2018, at Masonicare Health Center Acute Care in Wallingford. She has entered her Heavenly home and is now at Peace, free from the pain and struggles she endured.
Susan was born on Jan. 12, 1954, to the late Clifford and Flora Shippee, the youngest of five children. She graduated from Plainfield High School and worked as a secretary at General Dynamics and later as an executive secretary for Morrison Knudsen Engineering, Marine Division.
Susan was smart, she had a kind soul, and a loving and generous heart. Family was always important to her; she liked watching her nieces' and nephews' games, spending time with her family, the beach and traveling.
Susan was predeceased by her husband Joseph Powers, her sister Kathleen Sassenger, nephews Dylan Paradis and Christopher Conderino. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her companion Ronald Ceravolo of Gales Ferry, sister Bonnie O'Brien of Waterford, brother Thomas Shippee and wife Joyce of Plainfield, brother Douglas Shippee and wife Linda of Florida, and Marty Tate of Rhode Island. She will be sadly missed by her aunts Valerie Orefice of West Hartford, Maureen Opperman of Plainfield and Joyce Bouthillier of Plainfield; her uncle Maurice Bouthillier of Plainfield; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Susan's Life at 10:30 a.m. on June 16, at the First Congregational Church of Plainfield, 519 Norwich Road, in Plainfield. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The First Congregational Church of Plainfield or to a charity of your choice.
