Raging hilarity

- — Mary Biekert

It seems like comedian and actor Katt Williams might have a little bit of a rage issue. Turns out, while stopping at a diner with his pals in 2016, Williams decided to attack his waiter by throwing a salt shaker at his face. Subsequently, the vicious toss put the waiter in the emergency room (ten stitches were used to sew up his lip wound), and that waiter has since sued Williams. But because we don’t know the surrounding context of what really happened (maybe that waiter really was being a jerk), who’s to judge?

If you haven’t heard of Williams, you might know him from “Friday After Next” or Nick Cannon’s “Wild n’ Out” comedy sketch show. Before Williams began his acting career, he started out as a small-time comedian in his Cincinnati neighborhood in the ’90s and has since risen the ranks until reaching celebrity status. We can’t really blame him, then, after touring the world and selling out thousands of shows over the years, if that lifestyle has chipped away at him. On Friday, he’ll be coming to Foxwoods’ Grand Theater with his newest tour, “Conspiracy Theory” — a show sure to charm with articulate and not to mention sharp commentary about President Trump, Bill Cosby and NASA, of all things. He’ll touch on everything from race relations to politics — his way of holding a mirror up to contemporary American culture at large.

Katt Williams, 8 p.m., Friday, Foxwoods’ Grand Theater; $36$79; 1-800-200-2882.
