USS GRAYLING CLASS JOINS THE FLEET

Groton — Seventy-two sailors of “Class 18260,” USS Grayling, graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on May 24.

Seaman Austin Mitchell was class honor graduate with a 96.25 GPA. Mitchell continues training in tactical computer network operations.

Seaman Jaylin Matthews was recipient of the Submarine Heritage Award.

Seaman Colby Brasseaux received the Navy Core Values Award.

Fireman Apprentice Yesenia Alcarazgar­cia, Fireman Taylor Noskey, Machinist’s Mate Nuclear Power 3rd Class Donald Barber, Seaman Apprentice Jacob Lehman, Seaman Recruit Brian Tran, Seaman Richard Fuschetti, Seaman Sangkwon Choi, Machinist’s Mate Nuclear Power 3rd Class Bodhi Schaublinl­ocke, Seaman Walter Nogra, Seaman Geoffrey Zaffino, Seaman Apprentice Geoffrey McDonald, Seaman Cody Hamilton, Seaman Recruit Benjamin Pulsipher, Electronic­s Technician Nuclear Power 3rd Class David Money, and Damage Controlman 1st Class Elizabeth Bledsoe joined Fireman Apprentice Jacob Peterson as graduates with distinctio­n.

Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introducti­on to the basic theory, constructi­on and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. In preparatio­n for an assignment, Sailors receive instructio­n on shipboard organizati­on, submarine safety and escape procedures.
