COMMUNITY SUPPER TO SUPPORT PUERTO RICAN FAMILY RELOCATED AFTER HURRICANE MARIA

-

Old Lyme — The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, Christ the King Church and Saint Ann’s Episcopal Church will hold a community supper at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Christ the King Church to support a family relocated from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

Adrian and Lismarie Colon and their two children, Adrian Jr., 12, and Gustavo, 2, were relocated to Old Lyme in late December, after losing their home, jobs, and belongings to Hurricane Maria, according to an announcement of the event. The Old Lyme Refugee Resettlement Committee, a group of volunteers from the churches and community, has assisted in finding housing, support services, jobs and schools for the family.

Adrian Colon Sr., and volunteers will prepare an authentic Puerto Rican meal, and traditional Puerto Rican music will be played at the event. Admission to the supper is free. Donations will be accepted at the door, and a silent auction will be held.

Residents with questions or who would like to donate can contact any of the church offices: FCCOL: fccol@fccol.org; Christ the King Church: ctkoldlyme@ aol.com; Saint Ann’s Episcopal Church: office@saintannsoldlyme.org.
