Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Pamela Evans Ralls-Thornton “Pam,” beloved wife of Dr. Robert Thornton for 45 years, died unexpected­ly on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, with Robert at her side.

Pamela graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School, Class of ’69, and Eastern Connecticu­t State College with a degree in education. Pamela taught school in Birmingham, Ala., while assisting Robert though medical school. Her mother, Eleanor, believes she read every book in the Birmingham Alabama Library. Pam read “War and Peace” twice. Yes, twice.

A memorial service was held at River Wood Presbyteri­an Church in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where she was an active member. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Pamela was born Feb. 14, 1951, to Eleanor Evans Ralls and the late John Ralls Sr.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Jennifer and Christina; one granddaugh­ter, Viviana; two sisters, Ellen Jones (Joe) and Barbara Jean Turner; one brother, John Ralls Jr.; nephews, a niece, several cousins; aunts, Carol Ralls, Carrie Ralls, Gladys Alves, Ellen Connors, Patti Laster; and uncles, David Ralls and Edward Laster.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

Donations may be made to Pleasant Street Baptist Church, Pleasant Street, Westerly, R.I., in care of Deacon Joseph Siner.
