Waterford — Richard “Bubby” Brouwer of Waterford, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

He was born in New London, on Jan. 11, 1965, the son of Carol Brouwer and the late Richard Brouwer. Bubby was a Jack of all trades. He began his employment at an early age starting his own lawn mower repair business. His talents have benefited many employers and people over the years before finding his true passion at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl where he worked for 20 years.

His favorite pastimes included watersport­s, hanging out in his garage with his close friends and family and auto racing. Bubby’s love for racing earned him 31 career wins with two track championsh­ips in the X-Modified division.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Brouwer; sisters, Sherrie Stefanski and Lori French and her husband, William French; nieces, Cassidy Stefanski and partner, Mike Ballirano, Macy McKinney and husband, Robert McKinney; nephews William and Benjamin French; and great-nephew, Jayce McKinney; an aunt, Cheryl Doyle; uncle, Richard Perkins and his wife, Donna; and many cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Speedy, that he rescued from the Speedbowl.

He was predecease­d by his grandparen­ts, Minnie and Dick Perkins; and his brother-inlaw, Lou Stefanski.

In keeping with the wishes of Bubby, there will be no services.
