Help ‘Project O’ keep serving students

-

I am the chairman of the Board for Project Oceanology. I would like to acknowledge your article, “Project O faces more than 75 percent cut in state funding,” (May 16).

Project Oceanology was created by teachers, and is owned and operated by local member districts. Over 45 years, Project O has provided approximately one million students with high-quality, innovative, hands-on educational experiences. Project O has had a profound impact on multiple generations of students in Connecticut, especially in southeastern Connecticut.

Project O needs the help of the community it has served for so long. We hope to serve another million students for another 45 years. With your help, we can do that.

How you can help:

Tell your Project O story on social media, and tag us!

Call or write to your state rep / senator and ask them to restore funding to Project O.

Donate to Project Oceanology at http://oceanology.org/get-involved.

Join Friends of Project Oceanology as a volunteer. Help plan our spring gala. The next meeting is Monday at 4 p.m. at Project O.

Your business can sponsor named programming for schools, named camp scholarships for students, or can donate to Project O wish list items.
