We love Lucie
As the daughter of famed actors Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, stars of the television classic “I Love Lucy,” actress and singer Lucie Arnaz is no stranger to show business. In fact, she has been a part of that world for as long as she has been alive — having starred on various television shows with her mother while growing up and later moving on to Broadway. Now celebrating those years and those many performances, the 66-year-old Arnaz is coming to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center with a show that will pay tribute to those very roots and the many roles that have made her a star.
Arnaz is first remembered for her recurring role on “The Lucy Show,” opposite her mother, though she officially entered the world of acting at the age of 15 as a series regular on “Here’s Lucy,” a show that ran for six seasons. She later starred in her own series, “The Lucie Arnaz Show,” and, after that, in the critically acclaimed “Sons & Daughters” on CBS.
In the summer of 1978, Arnaz stepped into the world of theater with a title role in “Annie Get Your Gun” at the Jones Beach Theatre on Long Island. She later made her Broadway debut in February 1979 in the musical “They’re Playing Our Song.”
Her theater credits include roles in productions such as “Seesaw,” “Whose Life Is It Anyway?,” “The Guardsman,” “The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True,” “Sonia Flew,” “The Witches of Eastwick” and many more. Her performance on Saturday, we expect, should be one that reawakens those long-gone days of Hollywood show biz and theater classics.
