Richard Bennett
Lunenburg, Mass. — Richard G. Bennett, 82, died Saturday, June 14, 2018, at the Highlands Nursing Home in Fitchburg, Mass.
He was born in Greenfield, Mass., on Oct. 22, 1935, the son of Gerald and Marion (Dustin) Bennett. Richard attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy. After completing his naval service, Richard resided in North Stonington and worked at the New London Submarine Base in personnel. After his retirement from there, Richard worked for the gaming commission at Foxwoods Casino for 15 years.
He moved to Lunenburg, Mass., with his brother and sister-in-law. He attended the Congregational Church of Christ, UCC in Leominster, Mass.
Among his survivors, Richard leaves his brother, Bryan Bennett and his wife, Jean, of Lunenburg, Mass.; a niece, Janel Bennett Hebert, her husband Mike and their daughter, Adeline, of Leominster; a niece, Dustina Bennett and her son, Nathaniel, of Brighton, Mass.; and his extended family, John and Robin Sodano and their daughter, Krystianna.
A memorial graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, July 26, at the Green River Cemetery, Wisdom Way, Greenfield, Mass.
