The Day

Victor Di Paglia

-

Mystic — On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, Victor Sal Di Paglia (Sciglimpaglia), 66, passed into eternity surrounded by the love of family and friends.

He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Feb. 18, 1952, the son of Connie (Repaci) Sciglimpaglia and Louis L. Sciglimpaglia.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Victor served on the USS Midway and was honorably discharged in 1973. Victor married his wife, Susan (O’Neill) Di Paglia, on a hot August day in 1983 at the home of Victor’s parents in Greenwich.

Intensely curious, Victor had many interests and skills. He was skilled at photography, sign fabrication (one of his signs hangs on the Mystic River Bridge), electrical wiring, carpentry, plumbing, auto mechanics, writing and performing on his guitar. He was interested in travel (he and his wife traveled to Italy, France, the UK and Hawaii) and animal welfare (he was a staunch vegetarian and devoted Cat-daddy to Rosco and Girlie.)

He and his wife of 35 years, Susan, lovingly and skillfully restored and updated their historic Mystic Victorian home together over the last 17 years. Victor’s life was as rich and varied as the interests he pursued. He lived 17 years in Goleta, Calif., but relocated to Mystic in 2001 to be closer to family.

He loved his life and was quick to make new friends and have new experiences.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his mother, Connie (Repaci) Sciglimpaglia; sisters, LuAnn Di Paglia and Lisa (Sciglimpaglia) Ricciardi; his brother, Larry Sciglimpaglia; along with six nieces, three nephews, four great-nephews; and many other family and friends.

He is predeceased by his father, Louis L. Sciglimpaglia.

Plans are being made for a memorial service in Newtown in mid-August.

Farewell, Renaissance man …
