BLUMENTHAL, MURPHY CO-SPONSOR NATIONAL LOBSTER DAY RESOLUTION THREE RIVERS TO HOLD ‘SUPER SATURDAY’ REGISTRATION DAY
A resolution co-sponsored by U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, both D-Conn., that designates Sept. 25 as National Lobster Day unanimously was approved by the Senate late Monday night.
The resolution points out that American lobster is among the most valuable species landed in the United States each year, serves as an economic engine by providing thousands of jobs and serves as a family tradition. The resolution encourages people to observe the day “with appropriate ceremonies and activities,” citing the popularity of lobsters from Maine to California. “Countless people in the United States enjoy lobster rolls to celebrate summer, from beaches to backyards and fine dining restaurants to lobster shacks,” the resolution states.

Norwich — Three Rivers Community College is holding its “Super Saturday,” a one-stop shop for fall semester registration, on Aug. 4.
Super Saturday will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the A Wing. Classes begin on Aug. 28.
“We want to give students one more opportunity to take advantage of this popular way to register or enroll. Super Saturday makes this as easy as possible,” Steve Finton, dean of student services, said in a news release. “Students can get guidance in enrolling and registering, and finish it in one day.”
Staff members also will be on hand to help with class schedules, course selection, testing, financial aid and more.
