Patrick Kelly

New London — Patrick “Pat” Joseph Kelly, 79, of New London entered eternal life on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in the company of his beloved wife, Jerushia.

He was born June 14, 1939, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late Patrick O. and Virginia (Norris) Kelly Sr.

Mr. Kelly was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961 and was honorably discharged. He was a teacher at Edgerton School in New London for 35 years, retiring in 1999 and served as treasurer for the New London Education Association for numerous years. He married the former Jerushia Wrighten on Feb. 13, 1987, Mrs. Kelly survives him. Pat coached Little League for the Elks and City Coal teams in New London for many years. He also started the after school basketball programs at the former YMCA in New London.

He is survived by two children, Bryan and wife Valbona Flowers and Tiffney Flowers and husband Alan Hanson; three siblings, Frank and Kevin Kelly and Barbara Dumphy; and five grandchildren.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Family and friends are to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in St. Joseph Church, New London. Interment with military honors will follow in the CT State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
