NL SOCIETY NAMES NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

The New London County Historical Society has named Regan Miner as its new associate director.

A Norwich native, Miner has served as the consultant for the Norwich Historical Society since 2014, where she coordinate­d major projects promoting Norwich’s history, including the restoratio­n of the 1783 Dr. Daniel Lathrop Schoolhous­e, now home to the Norwich Heritage & Regional Visitors’ Center, the “Discover Norwich” exhibit and the Walk Norwich self-guided trails.

She previously served as the historical consultant for the City of Norwich, where she was involved with coordinati­ng the Uncas Leap Heritage Area project. She worked with the Norwich city planner to establish a Village District Overlay Zone in the Norwichtow­n section of Norwich as part of her Masters Capstone project at Central Connecticu­t State University.

Miner currently serves on the board for the Society of the Founders of Norwich and is vice

chairman of the Norwich Historic District Commission. Miner was the recipient of the 2016 40 under 40 Award, the 2016 Connecticu­t Governor’s Conference on Tourism Rising Star Award and the 2018 Mimi Findlay Award for Young Preservati­onists.

“I’m looking forward to telling our region’s story and I’m eager to connect with regional historical organizati­ons to find ways we can partner and collaborat­e together,” Miner said in a statement.

Miner is a graduate of the University of Connecticu­t, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history, and holds a master’s degree in public history from CCSU.
