East Lyme falls to Rhode Island at 9-10 LL regional

Cranston, R.I. — East Lyme lost 3-1 to Rhode Island champion Warwick at the Eastern Regional Little Baseball baseball (ages 9-10) tournament on Wednesday night.

East Lyme, the District 10 and state champions, finish pool play at 2-2. Both Warwick and Massachuse­tts champion Barnstable are 3-0 with one game remaining, and advance to Friday's New England final.

Warwick scored two runs in the top of the second inning. East Lyme got a run back in the bottom of the third inning to make it 2-1 before Warwick added a run in the top of the fourth inning. East Lyme finished with four hits, but made three errors.

On Tuesday night, Garrison Biggs pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts as East Lyme beat Browns River of Vermont, 10-0, in a game that ended after four innings due to the mercy rule.

Nick Cambi, Andrew Sevigny and Ryan Wargo each had two hits and Harrison Papuga doubled for East Lyme, which also turned two double plays.

Black Wolves honors

• Kevin Crowley at Colton Watkinson of the New England Black Wolves were honored by the National Lacrosse League.

Crowley, a forward, was named to the NLL All-Pro first team. He led the NLL last season with 51 goals and also had 25 assists for 76 points. Crowley also picked up 73 loose balls and caused 11 turnovers. Crowley was a second-team selection in 2017.

Watkinson, a transition player, made the NLL All-Rookie team. New England's first-round pick in 2017 (seventh overall), Watkinson had seven goals and one assist for 15 points. He also had 69 loose balls and caused 16 turnovers.
