Farmington— Karin (Stockmann) Laakso, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018, at her beloved UConn Medical Center.

She was born in Waterbury, to Marlis (Bratz) and Hans Stockmann. She graduated from the Children’s Hospital School of Nursing with her RN and Boston University with a BSN Summa Cum Laude. She also was a graduate of the University of Connecticu­t School of Social Work where she obtained her MSW. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Internatio­nal Nursing Honor Society. She worked in nursing at Children’s Medical Center in Boston, John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and Massachuse­tts General Hospital in Boston. As a social worker/ nurse she worked at Middletown’s Middlesex Hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit.

She leaves two loving daughters, Kristen Foley of Granby and her partner John Williams of Windsor, and Lauren Young and her husband Bob of Niantic. She also leaves a dear brother, Peter Stockmann and his wife Kathy, as well as two wonderful nephews, Jason and Matthew.

In her younger years, she enjoyed golf and skiing. Her hobbies included bridge, reading, movies and extensive travel.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Funeral services on Thursday are private.
