Voters: Confront rich media cabal
Interesting how the national political battle is slowly turning like a mudslide on to those who started it. Before it’s over we are apt to see people going to jail for the right reasons regarding the attempt to overthrow a president. We are talking about the Democratic Party trying a coup, not the John Wilkes Booth gang. The problem with jailing political opponents is it becomes necessary for the other party to retaliate.
We are also having a difficult time with the advent of billionaires who can influence the public by flooding money into organizations ready to hit the streets wherever and whenever some incident occurs, so the party newspapers can blow incidents into crisis territory. How many cops have been killed because of blowing up incidents like “hands up don’t shoot?”
In other ways billionaires can pile money into favorite issues by financing big influence. Do you think Amazon’s Bezos bought the Washington Post because he wants to be a newsboy? Does big time money influence candidates to push or deny big deal projects? Do airplanes have wings?
Well, between the mudslide and the billionaires our country is having a hard time figuring out what we will look like in the future. But hey, there’s still ordinary people who have the vote. Howard Flora Ledyard
