Mohegan — When it comes to marketing, Mohegan Sun has Momentum.

That’s the name of the casino’s “rewards,” or loyalty, program, which Mohegan Sun has expanded through partnerships with a Caribbean casino and a European cruise line, as well as a number of Massachusetts and northern Connecticut attractions and the Ocean House Management Collection’s hotel properties in Westerly and Massachusetts.

As of this month, Momentum cardholders who earn points, or “Momentum Dollars,” at Mohegan Sun can qualify for discounts and other benefits at the Baha Mar Casino in Nassau, The Bahamas, the largest casino in the Caribbean. Earlier, Mohegan Sun unveiled rewards-program partnerships with the Six Flags amusement park in Agawam, Mass.; the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.; and the Ocean House properties, including the Ocean House, the Weekapaug Inn and the Watch Hill Inn, all in Westerly, and the Blantyre in Lenox, Mass.

On consecutive days last week, Mohegan Sun announced Momentum partnerships with MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately owned cruise line, and with Samuel Adams, the Boston brewery; the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League; Blue Back Square, a shopping and live entertainment destination in West Hartford; and Hartford Stage, a theater.

The western Massachusetts and Hartford-area attractions are, in some cases, closer to Springfield, Mass., than they are to Mohegan Sun.

MGM Springfield, MGM Resorts International’s new resort casino in Springfield, started signing up customers to its loyalty program, M life Rewards, weeks before the Springfield casino’s Aug. 24 opening.

“We do not accept M life Rewards points nor does MGM, to my knowledge, redeem Momentum Dollars,” Ray Pineault, Mohegan Sun’s president and general manager, said.

Baha Mar Casino, a $4.2 billion resort development operated by a Hong Kong-based conglomerate, features more than 2,300 hotel rooms, 20 restaurants and lounges, a golf course, a convention center and luxury retail outlets.

Under Mohegan Sun’s partnership with MSC Cruises, the casino’s Momentum members’ benefits will be matched up with those offered to members of the cruise line’s loyalty program, MSC Voyager’s Club. The cruise line’s benefits include cruise discounts, priority embarkation and disembarkation, spa experiences and other amenities.

MSC Cruises, whose ships feature slot machines and table games, bills itself as the No. 1 cruise line in Europe and South America.

Momentum Dollars also can be spent at the other properties that Mohegan Sun’s parent company, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, owns or manages: Mohegan Sun Pocono in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.; and ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, Wash.
