Groton — Kathleen Driscoll Macdonald of Groton, born Aug. 13, 1942, in Portsmouth, N.H., passed away on Sept. 11, 2018, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was the daughter of John (Jack) Driscoll and Jenny Goss.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth W. Macdonald, son John Kenneth Macdonald, brother Thomas Driscoll and sister Janina Driscoll.

Kathy attended Fitch High School where she met the love of her life and future husband Kenny. Her love of children led to a career in youth services at both Fitch High School and Town of Groton Youth and Family Services. She was very active in St. Mary, Mother of Redeemer in Groton, where she became a Eucharisti­c Minister.

She is survived by daughter Tina (Macdonald) Doody and husband Paul of Niantic, sister Sheila Howse and husband Dell of Alabama, brother John Driscoll and husband Rich Cheatham of New London, brother Michael Driscoll and wife Rita of Florida, brother Jack Driscoll of Pennsylvan­ia, and daughter- in-law Denise Macdonald of Rhode Island.

She was also blessed with grandchild­ren, Mikayla Doody, Ryan Doody and wife Stephanie, Daniel Doody, Hannah Doody, John Macdonald and Jennifer Rodriguez, Heather Macdonald and Eddie Foster, and great-grandchild­ren, Sean Donch, Connor Rodriguez and Griffin Foster.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at St. Mary, Mother of Redeemer, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Connecticu­t Humane Society or Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
