East Lyme — Edmund J. Victoria Jr., 87, husband of Hazel (Burger) Hurshman-Victoria, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at Bridebrook in East Lyme from prostate cancer and heart disease.

Born in Stonington on June 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Edmund J. Victoria Sr. and Charlotte (Pampel) Victoria and was a graduate of Stonington High School Class of 1949.

He owned and operated the former Victoria’s Grocery Store in Stonington Village and also worked for Swift Meat Company in New London and the former Pic N Pay in Mystic. He eventually finished his career at Pfizer as a chemical operator.

A true sports fan and an excellent athlete, he enjoyed watching the Red Sox, NY Knicks, NY Giants and the NY Rangers. Ed was also a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his two sons, Edmund J. Victoria III of Groton and Steven Victoria of Norwich; grandchild­ren, Daniel Victoria of Groton and Megan Victoria of East Lyme; sisters, Geraldine “Sis” Shortman of Westerly and Patty Fusaro of Mystic; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predecease­d by a brother, William Victoria; and his two wives, Marjorie (Burdick) Victoria and Muriel (Enos) Victoria.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at the Stonington Cemetery, 345 N. Main St., Stonington.
