Virginia Jones

Mystic — Virginia R. Jones, 86, of Mystic passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1931, in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Georgianna (Burrows) Gordon.

Virginia worked for Sheffield Tube Corporation as an assembler for many years. She was married to Knofel Jones; he passed away in 1964.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Michael Jones and his wife, Eileen, of Groton, Alan Jones of Christmas, Fla., Steven Jones and his wife, Donna, of New London; her daughter, Debbie Jones of Mystic; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Rose Hess of Groton.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Jones.

A very special thanks to Suzie and Brian Morressey for all that they did for our mom over the years.

Services and burial in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery were private for the family.

Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, assisted the family with the arrangements.
